SITE SUPERINTENDENT (OTTAWA; AND SOUTHERN ONTARIO)

HEIN is currently seeking experienced Full-Time Site Superintendents to work in Ottawa and Southern Ontario.

Position: As a Site Superintendent for our Company, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of multiple trades and general labour on project sites, including coordinating and overseeing the management of safety orientations, meetings and documentation. You must be able to work, as a team, with the Project Manager and other key company personnel to ensure the project meets (or is completed quicker than) schedule, and to assist in coordination of building turnover.

 

It is considered a strong asset if you possess security clearance, including PWGSC Level II (Secret).

PROJECT MANAGER (OTTAWA)

HEIN is currently seeking experienced Full-Time Construction Project Managers to work in its Ottawa office.

  • prior relevant experience as a Project Manager;
  • University Degree or College Diploma in a related discipline;

Position: As a Project Manager for our Company, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Ensuring projects meet corporate goals and requirements for safety, quality, budget and schedule;
  • Forecasting project budgets and managing subcontractor and trade costs to meet, or come in below, budgeted targets;
  • Reviewing, in conjunction with the Site Superintendent, project plans and specifications and coordinating project scheduling;
  • Identifying cost saving measures and potential construction issues with respect to projects;
  • Supervising the tendering of subcontractor and trade work and preparing summaries for the client regarding same (including providing recommendations);
  • Supervising change-orders, contemplated change-orders and contract integrated changes;
  • Building a strong project team and providing effective direction to the Site Superintendent, Project Coordinator and trades;
  • Managing all project documentation;
  • Implementing risk management actions to mitigate potential Health and Safety and legal liabilities;
  • Managing project accounting, billings and receivables; and

PROJECT COORDINATOR (OTTAWA)

HEIN is currently seeking experienced Full-Time Construction Project Coordinators to work in its Ottawa office.

  • Drawing distribution and management;

  • Attending meetings, as required, and taking and distributing meeting minutes;
  • Issuing Notices of Revision; Site Instructions; and Requests for Information;
  • Processing Shop Drawings;
  • Creating Slab Edge Drawings;
  • General File Administration;
  • Developing and compiling LEED Product Submittals;
  • Writing LEED reports;
  • Miscellaneous AutoCAD drafting;
  • Distributing Consultant and City Reports to subcontractors and trades;
  • Researching product, zoning and Ontario Building Codes; and

Assisting the Project Manager in any other aspect of Project Management.

REVIT / BIM COORDINATOR (OTTAWA)

HEIN is currently seeking a full-time REVIT / BIM COORDINATOR for its Ottawa office.

As a BIM Coordinator, you will:

  1. Oversee the BIM coordination process on construction projects by leading the clash detection and reporting of interferences with the mechanical, electrical, sheet metal, and fire protection trades;
  2. Be responsible for developing 3D models and drawings in Autodesk Revit for the subcontractor trades for the coordination process as necessary;
  3. Be responsible for the end of the Project BIM Deliverable(s);
  4. Interface with the project management team, the architects and engineers, subcontractors, and clients to manage the coordination process;
  5. Create drawings and renderings for preconstruction such as floor plans, photorealistic renderings, site layouts, or logistics plans;
  6. Incorporate (and assist with determining) constructability and construction means and methods into BIMs;
  7. Provide and format project teams with BIM data throughout the lifecycle of a building project;
  8. Train project team members to utilize BIM data; and
  9. Research and stay informed on BIM related software and technologies.

 

ESTIMATOR (OTTAWA)

HEIN is currently seeking a full-time ESTIMATOR for its Ottawa office.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed analysis of contract documents for hard bid / lump sum projects.
  • Accurately interpret specifications to understand trade scopes and communicates gaps / missing information;
  • identify risk factors associated with same; and review constructability issues with operational staff.
  • Prepare quantity takeoffs and material and labour costing from the drawings and specifications.
  • Prepare project schedule for developing General Account costs.
  • Prepare General Account costs, including all special requirements such as supervision, winter conditions, weather protection, hoisting, all temporary facilities, and all safety requirements, cleaning.
  • Identify productivity impacts, including weather, shifts, location, labor availability, site constraints, operating facility, etc.
  • Arrange and coordinate scope review meetings with key trades during tender process.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with trade contractors.
  • Complete final cost estimate, including costing all labour, materials, equipment, overhead, and profit margins, to have a final tender submission ready for review and approval by management.
  • Assist in preparing project schedule for Proposals / Pre-qualifications.
  • Assist in preparing Proposals / Pre-qualifications for acquiring new work / new clients.
  • Maintain and communicate data on construction and material cost trends affecting project costs and analyze alternate means and methods to determine the most economical alternatives.
  • Build effective relationships with customers, design teams, specialty contractors, and suppliers that reflect and support the Company’s core values.
  • Ensure the flow of project information is maintained and documented.
  • Organize the estimating department to ensure that the proper procedures are in place to allow a smooth bidding process.

Qualifications:

  • Have obtained A University Degree or College Diploma in Engineering or Construction Management or a combination of education and industry experience; and possess 2 to 5 years’ relevant experience estimating in the ICI construction industry;
  • Possess general construction knowledge; and have developed a good understanding of specifications, materials, and methods and procedures through site visits or on-site experience.
  • Possess knowledge of key principles involved in bid preparation, including quantity take-off procedures, trade contractor procurement, inter-departmental functions, pricing, and bid-closing procedures.
  • Have the ability to identify risks / opportunities contained within contract documents.
  • Be familiar with different delivery methods, such as Construction & Project Management, hard bid, guaranteed maximum price (GMP), unit price, design-build, target prices, and cost-reimbursable.
  • Be able and willing to converse with, and solicit, trades and be comfortable with cold-calling.
  • Be resourceful and self-motivated with strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Possess advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess advanced skills using Microsoft Office Suite and internal operations systems, scheduling and estimating software.
